Books for America donated 10,000 adult fiction novels to DC Parks & Recreation Commission in support of Mayor Williams' literacy initiatives.
DC Correctional Treatment Facility (DC Jail) = 4,000 books
DC Jail was constructing libraries on two floors of the facility. Books for America was pleased to donate 4,000 fiction novels and a variety of self-help, religious and other non-fiction topics. Calvary Bilingual Multicultural Learning Center = 190 books
CBMLC offers an extensive learning program to more than 400 children, youth, and families from the Columbia Heights, Mt. Pleasant, and Shaw neighborhoods of Washington, DC. Serving individuals of different races, cultures, and languages, CBMLC has created a learning environment that respects and builds upon the multicultural aspects of the community in which it is located. Little Lights Urban Ministry = 550 books
Little Lights hosts the Reading Heroes Tutoring Program in the Potomac Gardens Housing Project in Washington, DC. Books for America provided 550 childrens books to enable the children of Potomac Gardens to have books in their homes. DC Coalition for the Homeless = 545 books
Books for America gave 545 children's books to DC Coalition for the Homeless for distribution to youths in Coalition shelters.
Meridian Public Charter School = 1,000 books
Books for America supplied 1,000 children's books to help build Meridian's reading library.
Mary's Center for Maternal and Child Care = 291 books

DC Preparatory Academy = 950 books
Books for America donated 500 children's reference books and 450 general reading books to help build the library at this public charter school serving disadvantaged children.
Fellowship Health Resources = 1,100 books
Fellowship Health Resources' mission is to assist individuals, as they recover from mental illness and co-occurring disorders, to achieve a higher quality of life. Books for America was proud to donate 1,100 general reading books to build a library in their resource center.
Project Tapestry, Joseph P. Kennedy Institute = 260 books
TAPESTRY is a research-based, early intervention project implemented jointly by Kennedy Institute and their long-standing partners, Providence Hospital and The Catholic University of America. The project works with new mothers who are Latina or African American and live in different wards across the District. Books for America provided 260 books for toddlers to assist the mothers in reading to their children at the earliest ages. Joseph P. Kennedy Institute = 800 books
The Joseph P. Kennedy Institute works with children and youth with developmental disabilities and provides a broad array of educational, therapeutic, employment, community living, and family support programs. 800 books were donated during exciting reading events by Books for America to help instill a love for reading in their children.
New Hope Housing = 200 books
The mission of New Hope Housing, Inc. is to provide homeless families and individuals with shelter and opportunities to seek a better life. They accomplish this in part by providing programs to promote literacy, high school equivalency, English as a second language and computer skills instruction. Books for America was pleased to be able to provide several hundred children's books to New Hope Housing.
Arlandria Health Center for Women and Children = 375 books

Woodley House = 150 books
On a daily basis, Woodley House provides a continuum of consumer centered care for several persons with mental disabilities. Woodley House programs provide varying degrees of support that allow clients to move towards self-sufficiency within appropriately supportive environments that meet individual recovery needs. A group of Woodley House's clients visited the Books for America warehouse and enjoyed selecting books of their own.
University of the District of Columbia = 65 books
Books for America donated 65 theses-level reference books to augment UDC's library holdings.
City Museum of Washington, DC = 26 books
The Historical Society of Washington, D.C., serves the city, its residents and visitors as an educational institution that promotes knowledge of the past for better understanding of the future. Books for America donated 26 books on Washington history to add to the Museum and Historical Society's collection.
Community of Hope = 410 books
Community of Hope is a nonprofit in Washington DC that has been helping the city’s low income and homeless adults and children for over 20 years. Books for America donated 410 children's books to the kids of COH. Bell Multicultural High School - 300 books
Bell Multi-Cultural High School receives 300 classics and reference books from Books for America to supplement their school library.
El Centro Rosemount - 200 books
The Rosemount Center provides quality bilingual child development programs which foster the emotional, physical, cognitive and social development of children in a cross-cultural, bilingual setting. Books for America donated 200 children's book to augment the Center's library.
Fort Bragg = 500 books
Books for America's Books for Our Troops Kids program donated 500 children's book to Fort Bragg in Georgia to help educate the base's children.
